How long should I massage for?

The amount of time it takes to massage depends on what you’re trying to accomplish.

For Muscle Pain and Soreness

Usually 2 minutes per sore muscle. For example, if your quads are sore in both legs, two minutes for each leg or until the muscle pain dissipates.

For Improved Health

Generally, the more time you devote to a massage the more you’ll benefit, but if you’re new to massage, a daily 2-minute session is a great place to start. For veterans, 15 to 20 minutes a day is ideal to power up your immune system and improve your overall health.

For Enhanced Mood

5-minutes or until you notice your mood improves. Use a 1 to 10 scale to determine that you’re feeling better than when you started.
